NEWS: Smaller Battery for Buds 4, Slight Boost for Buds 4 Pro

Recent certification leaks have revealed something that came as a surprise: Samsung is believed to be reducing the battery capacity on the standard Galaxy Buds 4, dropping it from 48 mAh on the Buds 3 to 42 mAh per earbud. On paper, this seems like a downgrade—and social platforms didn’t take much time to react to this. Some users joked that Samsung has entered its “minimalist battery era.”

On the other hand, the premium Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro sees a minor bump to 57 mAh per bud from  Early reports also indicate that the charging case for both has received only a marginal capacity boost of about 3% or so, which might not make any dramatic difference in normal daily usage.

Still, analysts expect Samsung’s software optimizations to compensate for these small changes, and efficiency improvements, better codec management, and smarter ANC tuning could still deliver the same real-world endurance.

The Story: A Redesign That Signals Samsung’s New Direction

The story gets far more interesting beyond the battery numbers, though, especially about design: Leaked renders and firmware strings show both models shifting to a flatter, more polished stem-style design, moving away from that round, bean-like profile Samsung was once known for. The brushed metal accents and mesh grille—supposedly for airflow and upgraded mics—give the buds a premium, almost AirPods-meets-Galaxy hybrid identity.

Another twist? Samsung may revert back to a horizontal charging case, which sees the buds rest flat rather than insert vertically, as with the Buds 3 series. This falls in line with compact, pocket-friendly cases becoming the leading trend in today’s market.

And then there are the features that sound straight out of a sci-fi script. Head Gestures – nod to accept calls and shake to decline. Interpreter Mode upgrades are driven by pinch-and-hold gestures. Improved access controls.

If true, this suggests Samsung wants the Buds 4 series to feel like a natural extension of Galaxy AI—especially with the S26 series expected early next year.

Social Media Buzz: Mixed Reactions but High Curiosity

Tech Twitter—or X, rather—is divided: modern design and gesture features aside, some users are calling it “Samsung’s most stylish earbuds yet”; others are taking issue with the base Buds 4’s smaller battery, saying things like, “So we’re paying more for less mAh? Bold move, Samsung.”

Meanwhile, YouTube creators are readying “Everything We Know About the Buds 4” videos, and Reddit threads are filling with speculation about ANC improvements, codec support, and pricing. What’s clear is that the Buds 4 lineup is already trending, even months before launch.
