This year has had some good additions to the PS5 Pro library, and each month continues this trend. This month’s list of additions to the PS Plus library consists of games that have been well-received and also very distinctive. Among the recent additions to the list for December for the PS Plus library is a title that had some problems on the PS5 console. Skate Story had some problems with lag on the PS5 Pro console after it launched on December 8th for the PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers. This issue has been fixed by the recent patch.
The Skate Story, not to be confused with the new Skate from EA, under the guise of an RPG about skateboarding, offers an experience of taking you through the strange and alternate world full of demons that you get to defeat with your skating. The Steam Store gives it an Overwhelmingly Positive assessment, though it seems it didn’t go so well with the PS5 Pro gamers. As of December 15th, however, all these problems will be sorted out. to some extent.
On December 15th, the official @skatestory handle on Bluesky confirmed a patch specifically for PS5 Pro. This was done to incorporate bug fixes and optimizations to make Skate Story run smoother on PS5 Pro. Initially, it was found that gamers experienced some performance-related issues of stuttering and freezing on PS5 Pro. This was make or break for gamers, considering how fast-paced actions like skating were expected to take place in Skate Story.
However, Skate Story is hardly the first title with performance problems at its launch on the PS5 Pro. Since the so-called “improved version” of the PS5 has gone out, gamers have had the displeasure of realizing just how problematic the frame rate and optimization on this gaming machine can be relative to the original PS5.
Luckily, it appears as if this latest update has made a huge difference for most gamers out there. Currently, thanks to this latest update, many gamers find it working better on the PS5 Pro. According to one Redditor who is using it on their PS5 Pro, “It’s super smooth now and I love the game.” This is definitely great news for people who wanted a try at it but ended up shelving it because of its frame rate and lagging concerns. However, it appears that some of the freezing and lag is also remaining with some of the players. Some individuals state that the game is running smoothly until the more complex levels that are introduced later.
