Xiaomi has rolled out its latest operating system upgrade named HyperOS 3, based on Android 16, to its list of smartphones and tablets. This upgrade has been rolled out to devices like the Xiaomi 14 series, the Redmi Note 14 5G series, and some Poco and Redmi series models. This upgrade seems to be the most prominent software upgrade for Xiaomi yet. This upgrade has put emphasis on AI-related services, system optimization, and new UI design.
Phased Rollout and Supported Devices
It is rolled out in a phased manner, beginning with flagships and trickling down to mid-range and mass devices. Early access has been given to high-end devices such as the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and Xiaomi has recently expanded this list to include other devices such as
- Xiaomi 14
- Redmi Note 14 5G
- Redmi 13
- Poco F7
- Poco M7 Pro 5G
- Xiaomi Pad 7
Android 16-based HyperOS 3 has already been rolled out for devices such as the Redmi Note 14 5G in various regions like India.
Revamped System Interface and UI Enhancements
One of the most striking aspects of HyperOS 3 is the revamped system interface. Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has added the HyperIsland, a notification system with a dynamic live activity feed that displays real-time information like music playback, charging, and running tasks at the top of the screen, much like a live activity system.
In addition, the OS brings improvements to animations, transitions, and the fluidity of the overall user experience, giving it a more polished feel. There are also new dynamic wallpapers and lock screen effects.

HyperAI Features and AI-Based Tools
One of the best things about HyperOS 3 is the added functionalities found in HyperAI. HyperOS 3 is now equipped with AI writing and editing support, allowing for:
- Text generation
- Rewriting assistance
- Tone change support
Customers can expect support for AI speech transcription with auto summaries, smart screen recognition, and a more intelligent AI search function capable of comprehending and summarizing content locally stored in devices.
Performance, Security, and Update Availability
There are performance optimizations too. As a result of the Android 16 optimization, HyperOS 3 comes with:
- Improved memory management
- Faster launch times for applications
- Enhanced energy efficiency
Security and privacy features have also received an upgrade, allowing users to enjoy more robust options in terms of system-protection mechanisms for their data.

To verify the update, the user needs to go to Settings > My Device > HyperOS > Check for updates. This is because the rollout is region-specific as well as device-specific. Beyond this point, it is expected that Xiaomi will enhance the devices supported by HyperOS 3 by the early part of 2026. This is indeed an important milestone for the software ecosystem.
