Design and Build Quality

One of the most exciting aspects of the Motorola Edge 70 is that it flaunts an ultra-slim and lightweight design. With a thickness of just under 6 mm and a weight of nearly 159 grams, it is one of the slimmest smartphones available in the market. In spite of this slim form factor, Motorola hasn’t compromised when it comes to build quality.

Key design and durability highlights include:

  • IP68 and IP69 certified water resistance and dust resistance
  • MIL-STD-810H tested for durability

The aluminum frame and high-quality finish make the Edge 70 a sophisticated and upscale smartphone. Additionally, Motorola’s Pantone color schemes make this smartphone have one of the better designs in the price range.

Display Experience

The display in the Edge 70 is a 6.67-inch pOLED screen with a 1.5K resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The screen is capable of handling HDR10+ content and can go up to a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, ensuring a perfect display during outdoor usage. Colors are bright without being overbearing, and this is complemented by the curved edges.

Display protection is handled by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The protection provided by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i will be sufficient against common scratches and drops.

Performance and Software

The Motorola Edge 70 runs on Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, which is based on a 4nm process. Although this processor does not come anywhere close to flagships, it is very efficient when it comes to performance. The device can be paired with a maximum of 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage capacity, which is sufficient for heavy usage.

As far as the interface is concerned, it boots Android 16 out of the box with a Motorola Hello User Interface. The interface remains largely stock Android, which is a good point for consumers in terms of an interface. The company does include Moto AI functions such as smart assistance capabilities and AI image enhancements.

Camera Performance

The Motorola Edge 70 packs a triple camera setup with all cameras boasting a resolution of 50MP, with the primary camera being equipped with OIS. The primary camera takes excellent pictures in well-lit environments with authentic color reproduction and good dynamic range.

Camera highlights include:

  • 50MP primary camera with OIS
  • 50MP ultra-wide camera suitable for landscape and group photography

However, not having a dedicated telephoto sensor can be a letdown for camera enthusiasts.

On the front side, the presence of a 50MP front camera is a major highlight, which is very good for taking selfies and recording 4K videos.

Battery and Charging

Although it is a slim device, the Edge 70 boasts a massive 4,800 mAh silicon-carbon battery, which can easily last a whole day with heavy usage. Charging is another area where this phone performs impressively.

Charging features include:

  • 68W wired fast charging
  • 15W wireless fast charging

Connectivity and Extras

The phone comes with support for:

  • 5G connectivity
  • Wi-Fi 6E
  • Bluetooth
  • NFC
  • USB-C port

Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos provide good sound quality, and fingerprint sensors work quickly in this phone.

Verdict

The Motorola Edge 70 is neither a performance-centric flagship killer, nor is it intended to be so. The phone stands out in aspects that have maximum importance to a common buyer, including design, screen performance, ruggedness, endurance, and an uncluttered interface. For a buyer searching for a lightweight, high-end smartphone with good cameras and current specifications, it is definitely a solid choice in the high-end budget segment.
